In 2001, Emil Berliner Studios in Hannover/Langenhagen founded their new department Media Authoring in order to extend their top-class recording operations to related multimedia services.

Initially, substantial pioneer work was done, especially related to the new sound carrier formats DVD Audio and SACD. Emil Berliner Studios were one of the first studios worldwide to do extensive analysis of the new DSD format. In the following years DVD Video dominated with numerous projects, amongst others the majority of the Deutsche Grammophon and Decca releases.

In April 2007, Emil Berliner Studios underwent substantial reorganisation. Since then the Media Authoring operations are continued with the independent company platin media productions.
